Brazil is beeeeautiful… but Brazilian cities are sometimes not so beautiful. Often overflowing with people, buildings and cars, packed so tight that the dirty concrete walls turn the streets turn into roasting hot pizza ovens, the urban environment has become an alchemists wonderland, providing all the raw materials necessary for creating pure gold. Amazing works of art greet passersby on avenues, alley ways, giant high-rises and single family homes. Wandering around São Paulo’s city center or hip neighborhoods like Pinheiros and Vila Madalena, you’ll run into vibrant paintings full of color and commentary, put up alongside tags and pixação (a type of Brazilian lettering). Here are a few pics of some of the work that I saw in Vila Madalena at the beginning of January 2015. Enjoy!
